Devlog #3 - 25/03/2024


Hi, all! The Fellas here, back at it again with another devlog. As of right now the Beta build has been completed  and is currently undergoing beta testing! Although, not without it's sacrifices. The originally planned chapter 2 was unfortunately scrapped due to time constraints. It will be missed. ๐Ÿ˜”

We've also updated our current build here to be a demo featuring the tutorial and chapter 1! Make sure to check it out! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Art ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ

Backgrounds ๐ŸŒ†

This week we're excited to show quite a few updates and changes to Chapter 1's and Chapter 3's backgrounds, not to mention more progress updates for Payola's design! ๐Ÿคฉ 

Our artist has been working very hard to improve and develop both the backgrounds themselves and the game's art style. The biggest tweaks this time around has been to the lighting and the addition of signs ๐Ÿ˜ฏ! This little detail is a replacement for the  arrows that allowed players to move between rooms, now allowing them to be a part of the environment and is overall more in keeping with the game's diegetic style.

Chapter 3's backgrounds have also been coming along just as nicely! Looks like we'll be going back to some familiar territory, but what's after happening to the agency?!๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Not to ignore our esteemed Police Chief's official devlog debut! Judith's initial concept and design are coming together too! Judith is the current police chief of the Pinkerton Police Department (P.P.D.) , striving to further her career and the former mentor to Emil and Svetlana.

Investigation ๐Ÿ”Ž

This week we added a few helpful hints to the tutorial to help players familiarise themselves a little better with the game's controls. The puzzle in the tutorial was moved into the lobby scene and  we've even included some non-evidence based interactables! So don't forget to click on every nook and cranny! Who knows what new information you might uncover? ๐Ÿ˜‰ So, be sure to keep an eye out, Detective! ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ 

Tutorials and Puzzle changes


Not the forget, we also completed the investigation and puzzle for the elusive final area๐Ÿ˜ฎ. This section is structurally much like the others, as players will have to explore the space and locate various pieces of evidence. The puzzle this time around is about piecing together the truth regarding the P.P.D.! ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ What will it be?  What sorts of heinous activities have they been up to? ๐Ÿ˜จ As much as we'd love to tell  you, you'll just have to wait until the full release to find out! ๐Ÿ˜‡

The interrogations are fully written and implemented for all chapters! It was a struggle to get it all done for the beta ๐Ÿ˜ข, but we got there in the end! Look forward to having having a go for yourself in the final release! We're sure you'll enjoy it !  ๐Ÿฅฐ

Audio ๐ŸŽต

Each section of the game is also full of its own custom music and sfx, all of which is currently in the works and present in both our Beta and Demo! This will be updated and expanded going forward due to being a little last minute ๐Ÿ˜ž. We want these to be as polished as possible for the game's final release, so stay tuned! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

We have also created an official Demo that is freely available for download! This Demo features the games tutorial and the first chapter with plenty of updates since the Alpha!

Current Work

After all our hard work completing the Beta, the team decided to take a short break before getting back to business for the final release. Our main focus from here will be polish and bug fixes, such as improving the game's text scroll speed and smaller additions like more animations and a text log! There will also be some work on the audio as stated before! Remember to check back here every week to stay up to date! ๐Ÿ˜‰
